Flipping streetcars? Streetcars had a little step on the rear end of the car. To enter the rear of the streetcar, there was a step. You went up on the step, then into the back of the streetcar where the conductor was, which he would take your fare and then you'd go and sit down. There   was just a little platform at the rear end. That was where the step was, where you stepped to get on. The same thing was at the front end if you got out. The funny thing about thing: you could get off the streetcar on the front end, but you couldn't get on at the front end.
