I was working with a couple of tap dancers. I remember the names: Lem Neal and Dickie Sims. They were a team. They picked me up at the theater in my home and asked me, did I want to valet for them? Oh yeah. Anxious to be around show business. This would give me a chance to hear all kind of music. I'm going around, meeting all these guys. I was working with them, and Lester was in the band that was playing on this gig they did.
