Yeah, it was. It was an extremely hard gig. And Mingus was never satisfied. He was a real task master and he was not a man easily satisfied. I don't think he was comfortable being satisfied. I think he was comfortable being on edge. And I mean that was comfort for him. In fact I can remember when everything was going really well, the music was great, people in the clubs were quiet, it almost, he didn't have an arena to invent something. And he would look like some little lost kid. Everything is fine and nothing to say. And he would almost pray for some poor soul out there from Cleveland to talk or drop a drink so that he could do his Mingusisms you know, which worked great, because then they would be in the paper, the next day there would be a line around the block getting in the club because Mingus took his bass and broke it or threw it up in the air. I mean it was good theater. But his music was good too so I mean I learned a lot from him musically.
