Well I was with the fellas when they were in rehearsal, and I came out when he had the Hot Five with the Kid Ory, with the Kid Ory in there. And I started coming to rehearsals and standing right there, he says "son get back you're standing in the way," you know? But that was my impression, that was my introduction to show business. I'm listening, about 5:30 in the morning I'm delivering my newspapers down by that Sunset Cafe, and I'd look in the window at 5:30 in the morning and I've got my paper sack on my back, and there's all them guys, Louis and all of them in tuxedos there, and a nice cold glass in his hand, and a nice lady standing there. And I've got my paper sack on my back and I look and I say, that's where I got to be. That's why we're here now.
