Yes. I was well known by musicians. When they'd come to Pittsburgh they'd come by and pick me up and take me out with them. I went out with the home WILLIAMS talent show then. The first time I left really professionally is when a show came to Pittsburgh and the pianist, something happened to him so the Western Union boy had delivered a wire to the owner of the show. The owner told him, "My goodness, I need a pianist. I've got to go out..." He said, "I know who you should get, the little piano girl. " He said, "What? " He said, "Come and go with me, I'll take you to East Liberty to her house. " So he brought this man all the way - about 3 miles from downtown to East Liberty. When the manager drove up I was on the sidewalk playing Hop Scotch with the kids. He was so angry and upset because he didn't have much time before the show that night. He said, "Why would you take up so much of my time bringing me out here? " He said, "Wait till you hear her play. " So he went in and out, and he asked me if I could memorize and I said yes. He hummed the entire show to me and I memorized it. That night I played it.
