No, my mother wouldn't allow anyone to teach me because she took one lesson and after that she couldn't improvise any more. So she allowed no one to teach me and I'm very happy that she didn't because later on I discovered that I had a strong pitch, perfect pitch. In Pittsburgh I found out. I happened to be sitting in a class and the teacher had lost her harp. She couldn't give the class the tone to start their singing, so I told her I could do that, and she was surprised when I did it. She went out in the hall where the piano was and I had given her the right tone, and I discovered that I had perfect pitch.
