Very possible. I had a pupil here and she was playing Bach and I had to teach her how to memorize and how to really play it. In about 5 minutes I was playing 4 bars. You understand? You know what classical music is - something that somebody's written and you do exercises on it in your woodshed and play it. But jazz is difficult. You think what they've written and you have to play it then. So why should I want to play something somebody else has written? When I was a kid and my principal got all these teachers and all these things for me, I couldn't play Rachmaninoff and any of those things. I had to improvise in it. I couldn't play it the way the music was. I can't play music -when I'm reading. I have to improvise then. I hear it and see it, you know. I'm improvising then; I can't play it the way it's written. I never could play anything note for note so it wouldn't be good for me.
