Richard Habersham-Bey: That’s funny man, I never thought about [recording albums at the club], I wish I had; I’d like to have that Miles Davis record. The Mighty Sparrow made a record at The Blue Coronet: “Sparrow at The Blue Coronet.” I did that because Sparrow was a novelty, I used to like him as a kid, but I’m not Trinidadian. I’ve got people in my family from the islands. Sparrow killed the crowd – he played a lotta weeks after that. My second wife, Jean Parnell, wrote for the Amsterdam News, she was a big help publicizing the club. We had a radio station at [Bedford-Stuyvesant] Youth in Action and she was on there.
