I think the same thing holds true with jazz. You could try to teach it but you can't learn it unless you want to, I mean, you have to like something that you hear and say "sheez, I'd like to do that, I want to play like that. " And it will get you started. And then you get your own thing going. You do what you're feeling. It comes to you and you can't go wrong copying somebody else. That's the mistake a lot of guys make. They want to play like Benny Goodman, they wind up playing like Benny Goodman and they don't have anything to say of their own. It goes for any instrument, you know. But you have to start someplace.
